I've had a passion for writing and story ever since I can remember, even writing my first horror story in grade 3.
No really!!! I did!! And I remember it vividly...
It was about a little girl in a dark house who was scared and needed to hide. She thought the fridge would be a good place but when she opened the door it was filled with HUMAN HEADS *gasp*. Not wanting to be found, she covered her scream. She ran towards the fireplace, thinking she could hide in it but when she was allllmost there, she fell through the floor to the basement! Again she ran and ran and ran but the hallway felt like it would never end. So the darkness swallowed her. The End.

Yeah…I know. The teacher spoke with me <insert nervous laughter here>.
Over the years, I have written copy for various businesses, been a guest writer for different blogs, wrote instruction manuals, had a few poems published, and became amazing at creating resumes that drew attention.
That all became very tiresome.
Being in my feral forties and fuelled by events that made my mortality frighteningly real, I finally decided to write for myself. I switched gears from resurrecting my doula practice to writing full-time.
I don't know how to explain this, but something within me came alive, almost instantly. I love creating worlds and characters, building community with other writers, and reading reviews (good or bad) about my work. I may never make millions. Or be the next Stephen King. Or Anne Rice. Nothing, though, can compare to knowing my words offer temporary escape, or, perhaps, even healing and courage to my readers.
I love this. I love this.
While I work on various projects, I hope to share a short post here twice a week as a way of connecting with you. My very own junk journal, no set theme. A mosaic of dark and light. Humor and rage and sorrow. It's okay if you don't like or agree with everything I post. Writing is art and art is meant to evoke emotion.

Thank you, my friends, for not only reading the bits and pieces I post here, but also for supporting me on this adventure that's always been the dream I never dared reach for. I hope, that in watching me chase my dream, it inspires you to chase yours.
With deep gratitude…
